EAGER’s first paper sheds light on 5G-Advanced and 6G Non-Terrestrial Networks systems

The worldwide deployment of 5G networks enables increasingly smooth and responsive digital communications. From online gaming to banking transactions, innovation in communication networks is bringing significant benefits to our digital habits and the overall economy.

Along with the restless technological progress, researchers are already at work to face the challenges ahead of communication networks, advancing 5G-Advanced (5G-A) and 6G. In this framework, based on the successful integration of a NonTerrestrial (NT) in 3GPP Rel. 17, NT Networks (NTN) will play a pivotal role for 5G-A (up to Rel.20) and 6G systems (beyond Rel. 20). 

The first scientific publication signed by the EAGER project delves into this topic, exploring the technologies, services and standardisation roadmap toward 5G-A and 6G NTN communications. More insights into the publication will be presented at the 11th Advanced Satellite Multimedia Systems Conference (ASMS 2022).
